Report AI agent traffic from your Azure Front Door profile with one ARM template.
Overview
If Azure Front Door sits in front of your site, every AI agent request passes through it. None of them reach Google Analytics, because agents like GPTBot and ClaudeBot never run your tracking script.
Maintouch gives you an ARM template that sends your profile’s access logs to a storage account in your own subscription. We read them with a read-only link, keep the hits from known AI agents on your site’s hostname and add them to Agent Analytics, by agent and by page.
Click Deploy to Azure, pick the resource group that holds your Front Door profile and enter the profile name.
Copy the sasUrl from the deployment’s Outputs tab into Maintouch. It can only read and list the log container.
Azure writes Front Door logs in hourly files. Maintouch checks every hour and the connector shows Receiving logs once the first file lands.
The template adds a rule that deletes logs after 7 days, so the storage account stays small and cheap.
If the profile also serves staging or other domains, only requests to your site’s hostname are counted.
Each hit is keyed by its Front Door tracking reference, and Maintouch only reads bytes it has not read before.
Ask which pages ClaudeBot crawled this week and get an answer from your Front Door logs.
Front Door diagnostic setting Sends the profile’s access logs to the log storage account.Storage account Holds the hourly log files in your subscription, deleted after 7 days.Read-only SAS Lets Maintouch read and list the log container, nothing else in your account.No. The template runs in your subscription. Maintouch only receives a SAS URL that can read and list the one log container, and you can revoke it by rotating the storage account key.
Azure Front Door Standard and Premium. Azure bills the log storage and export by volume on top of your plan.
Maintouch stops reading, but the storage account and diagnostic setting stay in your subscription. Delete them there too, or Azure keeps writing logs you pay for.
