Overview

Decisions, customer feedback and launch plans get discussed in Slack and rarely written down anywhere else.

Connect your Slack account through Slack’s official MCP server and Agent M can search messages, read channels and threads, open canvases and look up people. Maintouch keeps only Slack’s search and read tools, so Agent M cannot post or edit anything through this connection.

How it works

  1. 01

    Click Connect

Any member can connect their own Slack account from the Slack (MCP) connector page.

  2. 02

    Sign in with Slack

Approve access in Slack’s sign-in window. Nothing to install or paste.

  3. 03

    Choose who can use it

Your connection starts private to you. Share it if your teammates’ chats should search with it.

What you get

Search messages

Find the thread where a launch date, a customer request or a competitor came up.

Read channels and threads

Agent M reads the full conversation, not just the one message that matched.

Canvases and profiles

Open a Slack canvas or look up who someone is before you act on what they said.

Read-only by design

Maintouch allows only named search and read tools. Any new Slack tool stays hidden until we review it.

Permissions

search_messages, search_public, search_public_and_private Search messages your Slack account can see.
search_channels, search_users Find channels and people by name.
read_channel, read_thread Read a channel’s history or a full thread.
read_canvas, read_user_profile Open canvases and read user profiles.

Questions

How is this different from Slack (Notifications)?

Slack (Notifications) posts Maintouch updates and agent messages to a channel you pick. Slack (MCP) only searches and reads, using your own Slack account.

Can Agent M see private channels?

Only what your own Slack account can see. Agent M searches with your access, never more.

Why does Slack’s sign-in screen mention posting?

Slack asks for the scopes its server advertises, posting included. Maintouch hides every write tool, so Agent M can only search and read.
